this is sooooo good, you really are a hidden gem

nice tyler sample at the drop lol

this has to be my all time favorite song. the sound design is superb, and i have something to say about almost everything in this 15 minute epic.

the first two minutes do a good job at preparing you for the journey your about to go on. the first minute or so is pure wind chimes, calm and relaxing. then a laidback synth line begins to play. almost as relaxing as the chimes, but it gradually gets louder until it cuts out for a little bit.

then the booming drums start. at first this caught me by surprise. and right as i started enjoying the music again, it hit me with the bass. it is honestly ear-piercing, but you get used to it after a while. then at around the 3 minute mark you get a break.

this part is very soothing, a much needed gasp of fresh air. the piano in this part is amazing. it really sounds like l is just messing around with different riffs and what-not. but not after long, he throws you into another one of his bombastic soundscapes.

this part is rough, this pulsating down-tempo bass feels like nothing you've ever heard before. after around 30 seconds, l starts doodling on the piano again. but this time it feels very fitting and out of place at the same time, if that even makes sense. it has a sense of familiarity, which makes sense because you heard just a minute ago.

l does a very good job at handling familiarity, whether its the main melody that keeps slipping its way into random places that you expect it least. or the chimes that pop in and out, or the piano we just talked about. he all does it in a very natural way.

anyways the next part is one of my favorites. it has a very open ended feeling. those drums are still here. that spaced out synth is also here, and it has disguised itself as the piano. but everything builds off of each other to make a very adventurous feeling.

yet again we have a little brake from the mayhem. but this one is much shorter then the earlier one. this one contains the wind chimes from the beginning. but not for long, he throws you into another one of his musical experiments.

coming basically out of nowhere, this juicy drum set, and this repeating melody sound like they're turned up to 100. this continues for a little bit before the main melody is quietly playing in the background. but this time he has a different synth. it sounds flat, and you can barely hear it. its getting overpowered by this repetitive line.

after a while the madness stops and before you know it. we're halfway through the song. this starts the ambient part of the masterpiece. as it slowly fades in, it sounds isolated, only changing an octave a every once and a while. but these muffled drums add to the loneliness.

those eventually fade until your left with just a lonely synth. but something starts to awaken. as the ambience gets ominous. then the drums kick in and it starts to pick up in speed. this part sounds like a chase scene in an action movie. its dark and even more ominous. it sounds like something evil is waking up. until it fades out and left with your own thoughts.

the chimes start again and the last leg of our journey begins. something builds up and then everything goes silent... and then when you least expect it that booming melody hits you by surprise. this part is the most bubbly and floaty part of the song. it really feels like a finale to a show. the evil is defeated, everything is explained, and peace is restored.

when that fades, somewhat of an epilogue starts. when i first heard the piano, it brought me to tears. we here l, yet again mess around with his piano. but he plays it more emotionally, each key propels the next. and it feels like an ending. that fades out and then the chimes from the beginning come in, really making this lengthy project feel complete.

this is utterly the best song i've ever heard. its so good that it feels bad calling it a 'song.' im angry because five stars feels so low, and i want to rate it more. thank you for reading my very expansive review (if you even bothered), and i hope you have a good day, or night.

Interesting to hear someone mention this track ( I think you're the first! :D).
I have fond memories making this particular track.

That track was also linked with this one: https://lapse.bandcamp.com/track/when-we-wake-up

Any reason you want it uploaded to NG, in specific?
